Can Medical Acupuncture Help Me?
Acupuncture is the insertion of thin sterile needles into specific points on the body in order to unblock channels and encourage energy flow in these channels, called meridians. Medical acupuncture is a term used to describe acupuncture that is performed by a licensed physician.
Acupuncture is a form of energy medicine and it greatly accelerates the healing of the body especially when combined with holistic health counseling.
Acupuncture is very useful for a whole host of conditions such as migraines, allergies, sinus problems, depression, anxiety, arthritis, sciatica, stomach disorders, and hot flashes.
If you’re afraid of needles, then we can do “acupuncture without needles”. Just let me know you’re interested in this technique and we’ll go from there.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
It depends. Most acupuncturists want their new patients to commit to at least five to eight visits before deciding whether or not to continue. The reason is that acupuncture benefits are cumulative. If the body has been out of balance or wellness for a long period of time, it can take several treatments to feel better.
That being said, I personally recommend at least three appointments one week apart or at most two weeks apart to start with. Because I have state-of-the-art energy tools at my disposal, any patient willing to do some “energy medicine homework”, often improves much quicker than expected with just acupuncture alone.
As each patient improves, we slowly increase the length of time between visits until we are doing just health maintenance, approximately once every 4-6 weeks, or seasonal “tune-ups”.
Why Are Maintenance Visits Important?
Most people have stress in their lives, even if it is “good stress” such as the holidays or trips away from home. Together with the toxic environment we are all exposed to in the air we breathe, food we eat, water we drink and the electromagnetic stress of cell phones, televisions and cars, this regular stress will cause our bodies to “break down” or age.
Acupuncture and other integrative medicine tools can help balance the onslaught of aging stresses so that we live vibrant and productive lives well into our golden years.
